Research Grants for 2019

It's that time of the year again. End of year with plans to prepare for next year. In other words - being on the look out for research grants!

The Sumitomo Grant for Japan-Related Research Project closes today, 31 October 2018, whereby the hard copies of the research proposal must reach Japan today. I did not submit an application (should have done so, and must try next year). Initially when the announcement came out, I thought of submitting. Then my industrial attachment began, and that intention was put aside, so end of story. My colleagues Hanis and Haza did submit their application, and the secretariat in Japan has received it. All the best to them! I hope their grant application is sucessful, InshaAllah.

In the spirit of being on the look-out for grant openings, I did stumble across a number of opportunities. They are listed below:

1. MTDC Mini Social Research Grant
- In the website, there is no indication of a submission due date. I have emailed the secretariat and will update if there is any new information.

2. Grant Program for Japanese Studies Projects
- Application deadline December 3, 2018 (that's a month away!)

3. Japan Fellowship Programs
- There's quite a number of programs. One of them is Grant Program for Promotion of Cultural Collaboration.

4. 2019 Fulbright U.S. - ASEAN Visiting Scholar Initiative
- Deadline November 16, 2018 (about 2 more weeks away!)

This is all for now. I'll update more if I find new ones.
